ESPZen Singapore – 2014

on

A super hot weekend in Bangkok, but another tournament which was thoroughly enjoyable for all parents, coaches and children. ESPZEN Soccer School sent 3 teams to Bangkok 1xU8 and 2xU10 all teams we felt were strong and would be competitive in all games. Our U8s were on fire in the league stages, but alas slipped up in the Semi Final of the Cup, however the slip up was only temporary as they beat JSSL Arsenal in the 3rd vs 4th place to finish the tournament a credible 3rd place. Most of our U8 players will be eligible to play in the U8 tournament again next year… and if the team continue to train hard – more success will come. Our U10 Yellow team were a little hot and cold on day 1 not able to take their chances in some games, but a superb 2-2 draw against the table topper was a real highlight. On day 2 the Yellow team certainly had their Weetabix and secured two solid victories which saw them secure 4th place in the league and into the Cup. In the Cup the team were unlucky to play the eventual tournament champions in the QFs and after 2 more games managed to finish the tournament a very encouraging 6th position out of 16 teams. The Black team battled hard in their games, didn’t always get the run of the green and despite a superb 1st day winning 4 out of 5 games on day 2 ended up conceding some silly goals. The black team then cruised through the Plate QF and the Plate SF by wide margins but playing some super football, and in the plate final came unstuck against a physically stronger team. Goal sizes aside, the setting and organisation was amazing, food and smoothies delicious and all players battled hard and tried their very best.
